Serving Platters For All Occasions

If we had to describe this collection of serving platters in three words, we’d say: decorative, practical and uncommon.

Take the high-fired ceramics in this collection. When you’re not using them to serve food or drinks, they display beautifully in your kitchen or dining room — decorative! The high-fired ceramic safely goes from cupboard to oven or microwave to table to dishwasher — practical! And the handmade and hand-finished design makes each a one-of-a-kind serving platter — uncommon!

Shinbone Alley loves to find products for your home that are made from the finest, ethically sourced materials around the world. We seek unique goods that are timeless — pieces that last a lifetime and get passed on through generations.

A Shinbone Alley editors’ favorite serving platter is the solid wood tray with naturally shed antler handles (no animals were sacrificed to make these platters). Not only will this serving platter beautifully display your foods, but it will spark many conversations! You’ll also appreciate the functionality of the hardwood cutting boards in this collection, which can double as charcuterie serving platters or for self-serving fresh-baked bread.

Because of the organic nature of many of the materials — especially the hardwoods and antler-handled serving tray — the exact design will vary from what you see pictured in our online catalog.

Can you serve food directly on the decorative serving platters?

Absolutely! Please use our serving platters for food and beverages. For the wood platters, we recommend to clean as soon as possible to avoid stains. You might also avoid serving highly acidic foods on the hardwood platters as prolonged exposure could stain them (some people, however, like that distressed look over time — that’s up to you).

Are your serving platters dishwasher safe?

Some of the serving platters are made of exotic hardwoods and are not recommended for the dishwasher. The high-fired ceramics can easily go from dishwasher to cupboard to oven to table. See care instructions for individual products.

What’s the difference between a tray and a serving platter?

This is the kind of question that sparks heated (but harmless) discussions — is there really a difference? A tray is used for carrying foods, while serving platters are used for, well, serving foods. Can a tray also be a platter? Yes. Can a platter also be a tray? Yes. So, there ya go. That’s our diplomatic response, and we’re sticking to it. By the way, check out our collection of lovely decorative trays.
