The material for these serving utensils are ethically sourced in Africa from discarded Ankole cow horns and shipped to the artists’ workshop in Uganda. The craftspeople who make the salad servers saw an opportunity to reduce waste, create jobs, and support a local eastern Africa economy. The Ankole cow horns are ethically sourced and shipped to the artists’ workshop, where they are extensively cleansed, dried, cut, polished and shaped into household goods and jewelry. The salad servers we present to you here, will pair well with any salad bowl, including our Bamba horn bowl made from the same recycled organic materials. Because of the individuality of the animals that produce the Ankole, the salad servers you receive will vary slightly from what is pictured. We offer them in two shades — light and dark.
