Each of the double weighted, felted base pieces of this New York City Special Edition chess set are cast in mounded acrylic, giving weight to the pieces and a unique architectural aesthetic. We’ve chosen a range of iconic buildings from New York City, some of which capture the essence of the early 1900’s construction boom and the growth of skyscraper architecture, through to their more contemporary counterparts, along with some of the city’s most recognizable silhouettes: King – One World Trade Tower, Queen – Empire State Building, Bishop – Chrysler Building, Knight – Flatiron Building, Rook – Guggenheim Museum, Pawn – Brownstone House. Each 32 piece set comes complete with a wooden map board and presentation box, making a beautiful gift.
